Vietnam: Avian Influenza Reemerges in Ca Mau Province


9/25/08 ARGUS--an outbreak of H5N1 avian influenza (AI) has been detected in a 500-duck flock in Be Ghe hamlet (Khanh Hai commune, Tran Van Thoi district). Sample tests were confirmed positive with H5N1 avian influenza by the Ca Mau Veterinary Department on 24 September.

The source also noted that the Ca Mau Veterinary Department destroyed these ducks and conducts disinfectant spray in neighboring areas. Reportedly, the first AI outbreak was detected in the province in December 2006
